Why are people using tile outside?
They are gorgeous! Porcelain pavers are manufactured in over 100 different colors and sizes. This allows for much more design control when choosing a product. Most importantly, exterior porcelain is textured similarly to bluestone to reduce the risk of slipping once installed.
Porcelain is very strong and typically made in 2 cm thick pieces with very little thickness variation. The extreme strength and thin size makes porcelain very versatile. They can be applied directly over existing concrete or laid on a bed of aggregate. This is beneficial in situations where someone is trying to extend an existing concrete patio. A contractor has the ability install porcelain over existing concrete and then smoothly transition to an aggregate base for the remainder of the extension.
The absorption rate of porcelain is less than one percent. This means no stains! A common issue with concrete patios or natural stone pavers is stain prevention. With porcelain there is no need to seal or protect the surface. Exterior porcelain pavers are stain resistant out of the box!
